Venus is the second planet from the Sun. A terrestrial planet made of mostly rocks and metals. Venus is covered by a layer of clouds that trap the Sun's heat, making the surface one the hottest places in the Solar System. The rotation of Venus is "retrograde" which means that it spins in the opposite direction of most other planets.

Trivia

  • Venus rotates clockwise in retrograde rotation once every 243 Earth days.
  • The average temperature on Venus is 864 degrees Fahrenheit (462 degrees Celsius).
  • Venus was named after the Roman Goddess of Love (in Greek, Aphrodite).
